ABOUT SOPHIE LICHENS
Sunday Sea Songs
Sophie Lichens is a shanty singer based in the renowned port town of Denver, Colorado. In 2016, they started their YouTube channel Sunday Sea Songs as a personal project to explore their interest in the vast and varied body of maritime music. Their debut album of the same name was released in November of 2022. They co-host a weekly zoom shanty singaround and a monthly in-person singaround (check out the Folk Singaround page for more information!). While primarily an unaccompanied singer, Sophie also makes and plays rhythm bones and is a budding squeezeboxer.

The Album
"It is, however, Sophie's unadorned voice, sometimes double tracked for harmonies, that makes this album shine [...] Sophie's voice and her musical choices deliver a creditable debut album and I think could easily migrate into non-maritime folk singing to all our benefit."
- Folk London Magazine
Feel free to toss me a few bucks for the album if you like, but I've made it available for free download below. I'd rather you donate to help out our neighbors here in Denver instead.
(the album is also available on Bandcamp)
